Community Scientist Research Advocates Visit CaRE2 Research Labs

On Wednesday, July 19th, 2023, as part of the CaRE2 Community Scientist Research Advocacy (CSRA) Program, a couple of trainees visited the lab unit from the prostate cancer pilot project 2. The community scientist trainees, who work as community health workers for the Hispanic/Latino/a communities, visited the lab unit to have a first-hand experience witnessing what the cancer researcher’ leading this project Dr. Suhn Rhie, and her team do on their lab units (wet and dry) daily. Trainees were able to tour the lab asking questions to the project team about prostate cancer. They also had the opportunity to view some tumor tissue under microscopes and attended a presentation about genomic, epigenomic, and transcriptomic signatures of prostate cancer between African American and White patients delivered by the research team.
