Breast Cancer Awareness “Cruise By” Event with CaRE2 COC

On October 23rd 2021, one of our community partners, Celebrate Life Cancer Ministry led by Pastor Rhonda Holbert, in collaboration with USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center Office of Community Outreach and Engagement and more of our great partnering organizations held the annual Car Parade for cancer survivors (“Cruise-By 2021) to commemorate breast cancer awareness month at which people from the African American and Hispanic communities of South L.A. and beyond were present.

A series of community partners supported the effort. These included Lazarex Cancer Foundation, Women of Color, Charles Drew University, among others. A total of 250 individuals participated, and included health care workers, community health advocates, cancer patients and survivors, Keck School of Medicine (KSOM) students, and patient navigators. CaRE2 Community Outreach team members were in attendance and a gift bags from the Florida-California Cancer Research, Education & Engagement (CaRE2) Health Equity Center were distributed to all attendees.
